When extreme weather hits, Cherry Creek Schools officials decide whether to close, delay or hold school as scheduled, based on the safety of students and staff.
If classes are going to be delayed or cancelled, the information is posted on thedistrict’s website here , sent to families via Blackboard Connect phone calls, and sent to local media outlets.
Families can also call the district’s Weather Hotline at 720-554-4701.
When a school is on Delayed Start:
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (K-5) bus pickup and school start times are delayed 1 hour (60 minutes).
BEFORE/AFTER SCHOOL DAYCARE programs operate on a normal schedule.
Afternoon dismissal times will be the same as usual for all schools unless otherwise announced.
Regardless of any decision made by the district regarding a regular schedule or delayed start, parents may keep their children home if they feel that is most appropriate, and any absence will be considered excused.
During the school day a decision will be made concerning after school athletics and activities. Before and after school care will continue as normally scheduled.
In the case of a closure, all school programs including before and after school care are cancelled.
